Leavitt Family

Fall time always feels like family picture time!  It took just a little bit of hiking to find this spot, but isn't it perfect?!  I love how you can see the city below.  And who doesn't love tall grass?  Their outfits were awesome, the location was great, and overall it turned out wonderful!  What a cute family.

A few items of business

First of all, Happy Fall!  I'm slowly becoming ok with the idea that Fall is finally here.  Speaking of Fall, now is the perfect time to get your family pictures done.  I'd have to say that it's my favorite time to photograph.  The colors are amazing, people wear comfy sweaters, and the air is just different.  Also, looking a little further ahead, it's a great time to get your Christmas card photos done.   But we can talk about that later.

But what I'm really excited about, is a new feature that will benefit you!  That's right, thanks to my amazing web designer,  I will now be able to create personal online photo galleries for each client.  Isn't that so cool.  This way you can send a link to all your friends and family.  Does grandma live out of state but is dying to her cute little granddaughter? Problem solved.  She will be able to look at all the photos that are included on your disk.

Oh, but we're not done. For those of you who have Facebook, when you leave a comment in your personal photo gallery, it will now link it to your Facebook.  So now, all your friends can see your pictures too!  Isn't that so awesome!  It really is amazing what technology (and a good web designer) can do!

Extreme Fun

When I got wind that there would be rock climbing going on during this photo shoot you better believe I was jumping up and down. I even wore my climbing shoes just so I could get the best shots possible.  Thanks to Tyrell looking out for me, I didn't fall...even though I kept saying, "If I could just get a little higher." Part of it might be that he is so tall and I am so not.  But either way, he was a good sport.  Between my climbing around like a mountain goat and Tyrell scrambling around below, we got some pretty awesome shots.  Just a plug here photo quality, if you're doing an activity you enjoy or in an atmosphere you love, your pictures will reflect your true personality.  Perhaps that's why I love these pictures.  Tyrell is relaxed, adventurous, and hard working.  But you can tell that he also is a pretty good kid.  If these don't make you want to go rock climbing, perhaps they will just make you want to have your own fun pictures taken.  Either way, enjoy!

Soo-Soo

Oh how I love this little girl.  She's part mine.  Well let me explain.  My aunt is my best friend in the whole world (we're six years apart).  When she got pregnant, I ended up going to China *sad face*.  Although we e-mailed often and even got to chat via Skype, I still missed getting the babies room (and house) ready, baby cloths shopping, baby shower, and the birth.  I was sitting in China when she was have Soo...rude.  It about broke my heart.  Well I was determined that although I wasn't there to bond at her birth, I would still win her over as 1)her favorite and 2) give her a nic-name that would stick.  I'm not sure how the first item is going (she's easily bribed), but the second one was successful!  So there you go, Soo is part mine.  Hope her mother doesn't mind.

Photographing kids is unpredictable, exhausting, and hilarious!  If you've been around a three year old lately, you'll know they don't sit still and one trick only last for two seconds.  So my philosophy on photographing children is to put them in an atmosphere that they enjoy and then follow them around as they explore it.  This way the child stays happy, you get the true mannerisms of the child, and everyone's happy(ier) in the end.  *I just had to put the picture in of her stubborn face*

P.S. I'm in love with her golden bouncy curls.

Workshop

As many of you know, I am a blog stalker.  I prefer to call it 'art research', staying current on what's new in the photo world and what other photographers are doing is essential!  One such blog I love is Winkfotos by Emily Clark.  Not only is she an amazing photographer, but she's one of the nicest people out there (one key to her great photos).  This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend one of her workshops in downtown SLC and boy was it a blast!  One of the great challenges with art is the continual learning of new tricks and techniques...and staying motivated.  Well this workshop did that and more!  Emily showed us some awesome stuff and I left with my mind reeling with info.  I was just so excited to have learned new things and now go out and practice, practice, practice.  I was especially happy with how my pictures turned out!
